Frequenty Asked Questions
Q:  Can I walk in and register for the Pre-Licensing class the same day as class?
A:  Yes, but you will be charged a $25.00 late fee.  You will not receive a certificate that day.
 
Q:  What type of payment is acceptable for payment?
A:  We accept credit or debit cards if paid online and cash, check or money order may be mailded into the office or paid the day of the class.
 
Q:  What is the deadline for the pre-registration?
A:  Typically, we like all registrations to be in the office at least five (5) days in advance of the class.
 
Q:  If I pre-register for the class, will I receive my certificate the day of the class?
A:  Yes, unless you pay with a check.  All checks must clear the bank before any certificate is issued.  This usually takes 10 business days!
 
Q:  Are all classes confirmed?
A:  The association has a policy of never cancelling classes.  We will hold the class except in a dire emergency, i.e. a hurricane or other natural disaster.
 
Q:  What happens if I lose my certificate?
A:  We will gladly issue another one to you after your presence is confirmed in the class.  The cost will be $25.00
 
Q:  Are the bail recovery license and the bail agent license one in the same?
A:  Yes, the Louisiana Department of Insurance issues a Bail Bond Produce license.  This gives you the authority to do both.
 
Q:  What should I bring to class?
A:  You only need to bring a pen.  All course material is provided.
 
Q:  What happens if I am registered and paid for the class and cannot attend?
A:  The association makes every effort to accommodate all bail agents and potential bail agents.  We will try to work with you to refund your money or schedule you for another class time.
 
Q:  When are bail producer licenses renewed by the Louisiana Department of Insurance?
A:  Bail Producer licenses have to be renewed by the last day of your birth month in odd numbered years.  The cost is $50.00 to the department.  If your license lapses, then the department charges an extra $50.00 in late fees.
 
Q:  How many hours of Continuing Education do I need to renew my license?
A:  All bail agents are required to complete 12 hours of continuing education every two (2) years.  You may visit the Louisiana Department of Insurance website for more information, www.ldi.la.gov.
 
Q:  How may I receive Continuing Education?
A:  The department of insurance allows for bail producers to complete their continuing education through Self Study Courses.  The association can provide these courses to you.
 
Q:  Do these courses include an exam?
A:  Yes, at the back of each course is a multiple choice test.  You must pass the test with a 70% passing grade.  Upon completion you will be given the appropriate amount of contin
